Microsoft has already launched pre-orders for its Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection, offering U.S. gamers and collectors the chance to get their hands on one of the company’s most nostalgic Xbox consoles to date. The star of the show is the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition. a transparent design that celebrates 25 years of Xbox and pays homage to the original console.
The public pre-order window opens up August 27 at 7 a.m. PT in select markets, though some dedicated Xbox fans received early invites via email. Microsoft claims availability will be limited, with one collection per customer available for pre-order.
Series X25 returns to the look of the original Xbox
The Xbox Series X25 has a transparent OG Green finish as a nod to the original Xbox. There’s also a luminous green Xbox logo and anniversary branding, marrying the first-generation console’s visual identity with today’s Xbox Series X hardware.
Each Series X25 console has been engraved with a unique number, making each unit a separate collector’s item. The system maintains 1TB of storage and the performance architecture of the current Xbox Series X, despite the distinctive exterior.
$899.99 Price Targets Collectors Collectors
The Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection is priced at a U.S. MSRP of $899.99, far above the regular Xbox Series X. The price increase is for the limited-edition design, numbered hardware, bundled controller and additional anniversary features.
But for collectors, the console’s scarcity and retro look might justify the expense. But if you’re a gamer searching for higher performance, you should realise that the Series X25 isn’t a more powerful version of the Xbox Series X.
Halo: Included Campaign Evolved
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that a full-game download of Halo: Campaign Evolved comes with every Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console.
It’s a new take on the ad that helped build the original Xbox brand. Bundling it with the anniversary console makes a direct connection between Microsoft’s current hardware and one of the most important series.
Matching X25 Controller Launches On Its Own
Microsoft is also introducing an Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition with the same transparent OG Green design. The controller offers a number of design nods to Xbox past, including the original ABXY button colours and design cues from the iconic Duke controller.
The controller will be released separately on October 20, offering those who don’t want to spend $899.99 on the system another opportunity to celebrate Xbox’s 25th anniversary.
Xbox Series X25 Release Date Revealed
The Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection will be out on November 13, 2026. It said the $899.99 U.S. price was confirmed by Microsoft. and availability may vary per market.
Numbered consoles in limited quantities could make availability a key consideration for collectors once the first pre-order allocation begins shipping.
