Telegram Apple App Store Disappearance – Telegram has disappeared from Apple’s App Store without warning, leaving iPhone and iPad users wondering how to download or reinstall the messaging app. “There’s a lot of speculation around why the app has suddenly disappeared, ranging from Apple pulling it, to Telegram pulling it, to it being blocked in some countries or a temporary problem with the store.
Apple has pulled Telegram from its App Store but hasn’t provided an official explanation. apps are available on a regional, device and account settings and local law basis so users should not assume that Telegram has been banned worldwide forever.”
Users have difficulty finding Telegram
The problem started when users apparently went looking for Telegram on the App Store and didn’t see the normal listing.
In your purchase history you can see related apps, alternative clients, or previously-downloaded versions. For others, clicking on an older store link might result in an unavailable-page message.
The differences suggest the problem may be regional rather than global.
Old Installations Could Still Work
When an app is removed from the App Store, it doesn’t always disable an app that’s already installed.
Existing Telegram users will still be able to open the app, send messages, receive updates from their contacts and access their existing conversations. But if the listing is still not available, they could have problems downloading future updates.
Also, if you delete the app during the outage, you may have difficulty getting the app back.
The change may be due to the local restrictions
Apple has different versions of the App Store for different countries and regions.
An app may not be available in a particular market, but available in other markets for reasons such as government requests, legal challenges, licensing issues or local content regulations. That means whether or not Telegram shows up in search results could depend on a user’s Apple Account region.
Changing your region to get around restrictions can cause problems with payment, your subscription and your account.
Apple May Have Taken Down the Listing
Apple could remove apps it thinks break App Store rules.
There are a number of possible problems, such as content moderation, privacy disclosures, payment processing, security requirements or local legal compliance. Typically the ban is temporary, and the developer will either submit an updated version or resolve a policy dispute.
There is no evidence, that can be verified, as to what rule if any may be involved here.
Telegram Could Have Pulled The App Down
Developers could also choose to pull their own apps from sale.
Telegram may have taken down the listing for a temporary fix of a technical problem, or to prepare for a major update, or in response to a dispute. Sometimes apps are unavailable temporarily because of changes in distribution settings or developer-account information.
We would need to hear an official statement from Telegram to know if this is possible.
Android and web versions may still be available
The App Store problem might not affect the Telegram on other platforms.
Telegram Desktop’s official web service and existing Android installations will continue to function normally. However, users are advised to download such alternatives only from the official Telegram website or trusted application stores.
Availability of the App Store is one thing. Availability of the service is another.
