The Lord of the Rings: War in the North has (apparently) made a surprise return on PlayStation 5, years after its original launch in the PlayStation 3 era. The surprise return has caught the eye of longtime fans who fondly remember the action RPG for its cooperative combat, Middle-earth setting and original story running parallel to events in the wider Lord of the Rings universe. Should the modern release be confirmed, it could provide a new generation of players with access to a game that’s been difficult to find on newer consoles.

War in the North was originally released during the PS3 and Xbox 360 generation, and while it never became one of the biggest licensed games of its time, it did manage to build a dedicated following.
