.GTA 6 – Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive has filed requests for subpoenas in a federal court to obtain information from Microsoft and Discord about gameplay leaks for its highly anticipated “Grand Theft Auto 6” — more than three months before the game’s release.
The documents filed with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Thursday said the “copyrighted material includes but is not limited to audiovisual content, artwork, images, dialogue, or other creative elements.” Take-Two has issued a request to Microsoft and Discord for information under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to “identify the alleged infringers at issue.”</p>
This week, a hacker collective known as CyberLeek leaked a string of purported “GTA 6” gameplay videos, claiming to have obtained a playable build of the game. The videos were posted on different sites, then taken down, then reappear somewhere else.
Take-Two’s subpoena to Microsoft, for instance, alleges that “GTA 6” copyrighted content was uploaded to Microsoft’s GitHub developer platform. The DMCA subpoena served on Discord alleges infringing content was uploaded to the Discord Server via different accounts.
Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto 6, is officially trying to find the person who leaked gameplay clips from Rockstar Games’ upcoming open-world game. Thursday, Take-Two Interactive issued federal subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord in an attempt to gather information on Cyberleek, the hacker behind the recent GTA 6 leaks.</p>
Take-Two is using the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to follow the trail to Cyberleek’s identifying information on Discord, GitHub and any links to services such as OneDrive, Google and Xbox accounts.

“Grand Theft Auto VI” is the most anticipated video game of the year after two delays pushed its launch well past its original plan to be released in fall 2025. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said on an earnings call this month that the company had a “exceptional start” in pre-orders for “Grand Theft Auto VI,” and that more people pre-ordered the $100 ultimate edition of the game than the $80 standard version. The latest entry of the franchise is expected to be a record setter after “Grand Theft Auto V” sold 230 million copies, making it the second best-selling video game of all time.
