Google is said to be working on a new tracking device called Pixel Tag, with leaked information indicating that the company might be joining the more competitive market of Bluetooth trackers like Apple’s AirTag. The rumoured device is set to offer users an easy way to find personal items like keys, bags, wallets, and travel gear.

The leaker suggests the Google Pixel Tag may have better tracking features, deeper Android integration, and possible upgrades to compete with existing smart trackers. But Google has not yet officially confirmed the product, its final name, launch date or technical specifications.

Google May Challenge Apple’s AirTag

Since the introduction of Apple’s AirTag technology, the market for trackers has grown considerably.

Smart trackers make it easy to find lost items through connected phone networks. A potent illustration of this is Apple’s Find My network, which leverages millions of Apple devices to assist in locating lost items.

For Android users, a Google Pixel Tag would be a comparable first-party option, especially for those already on a Pixel phone and using Google services.

The compact form would enable users to hang the device on backpacks, luggage, keychains and other common items. Battery life will also be key, as the expectation is that trackers will last for months or longer without needing to be replaced frequently.
