There’s plenty of speculation around a possible 2028 Chevrolet Camaro as enthusiasts await word from General Motors on the future of the iconic performance nameplate. While production has ceased after the 2024 model year, Chevrolet has previously suggested that the sixth-generation Camaro’s story is not finished.

That comment has ignited speculation that a future Camaro could feature a new design, new tech and a different take on performance. Chevrolet has not officially confirmed a 2028 Camaro, its body style, engine options, pricing or release schedule.

New Face for the 2028 Chevrolet Camaro

Instead of a refresh, the next-generation Camaro believed to be in development could get a major redesign. Chevrolet is said to be mulling a more practical model but one that will still retain the low, wide and aggressive look that comes with the Camaro name.

Better lighting, a fastback roof line, improved aerodynamics and a wider body could lend the car a modern look. Chevrolet could also improve the poor visibility and cramped rear-seat space that haunted the outgoing model.

There have been some reports of a four-door performance car. But if Chevrolet wants to stick with the Camaro’s traditional formula, a classic two-door option could still be on the table.

Gasoline and electric powertrains still on offer

Camaro is back, and it’s all about performance

If there is another Camaro it will have to be able to compete with Ford Mustangs and other sports models in terms of performance. The most natural would be a rear-wheel drive architecture, with all-wheel drive available on some models.

Chevrolet could also get new suspension technology, larger brakes, multiple driving modes and sophisticated traction controls. Performance versions could bring back familiar names like SS or ZL1, though no trims have been confirmed.

Further down the road, a track-focused model could get upgraded cooling, aerodynamics, lightweight materials and specially tuned chassis hardware.

A More Practical, More Digital Interior

We expect the 2028 Chevrolet Camaro interior to feature a larger digital instrument display, a new infotainment system and upgraded smartphone connectivity. For functions that are used regularly, physical controls may be retained, to make the cabin easier to operate while driving.

The next Camaro could be more of a daily driver, with better sight lines, more storage, more comfortable seating and better rear passenger room. Chevrolet may also offer advanced driver-assistance features such as blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.

Premium versions could have better materials, performance seats, customisable lighting and an upgraded sound system.

Pricing Expectations and Potential Launch Date

Chevrolet has not yet announced pricing, so there is no official price for the vehicle. Better tech and development costs means the new entry-level Camaro could be more than the old one when you factor in inflation.

And the performance versions would likely be a lot more, especially if Chevrolet goes with fancy hybrid tech or a powerful V8 engine.

Word is, we may see a new Camaro show up sometime around the 2028 model year, with production possibly beginning late in 2027. The timeline is loose and could shift depending on General Motors’ platform strategy and market conditions.
