The latest in a series of exterior photos offer the best look yet at the upcoming 2027 Audi Q9, a large luxury SUV expected to slot above the Q7 in the Audi global lineup. The images look to be of a beefier body, updated lighting and design tweaks to give the new flagship a stronger road presence.
The 2027 Audi Q9 exterior styling will likely combine high-end styling with the room required for family buyers. Audi has yet to confirm the details but is expected to take on the big luxury SUVs from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac and Land Rover.
Significant front design changes
The front seems to have a bigger grille and more sleek lighting features.
Audi could do split headlights with thin daytime running lights above the main light sources. This trend is getting more and more popular across the premium SUV’s as it gives a unique look and gives the designers the freedom to add advanced lighting technology.
The bumper is also more sculptural, with larger gaps and more pronounced vertical details, giving the vehicle a taller, more powerful look.
New Lighting Signature – Modern Look
One of the defining exterior features of the Q9 is described as lighting.
The front running lights could be customisable digital patterns and the rear could be a full-width lightbar connecting the two taillamps. Higher spec versions may also have OLED lighting with different animation for unlocking, locking and warning other road users.
These could be features that Audi uses to differentiate the Q9 from the smaller Q7 and further establish its position as the brand’s flagship SUV.
Rear design looks wide & clean
The rear wide and the styling is horizontal to emphasise the width of the vehicle.
A full-width lighting element, roof spoiler and clean tailgate design could bring the Q9 up to date. The standard, sport and performance trims might have a different lower bumper.
Audi is also likely to mask or disguise visible exhaust outlets as it continues to push towards cleaner exterior designs across petrol, hybrid and electric models.
Trim level premium expectations
The Q9 could be offered in a range of flavours from standard luxury through S line and possibly even higher performance variants.
The various trims have their own bumpers, wheels, grille finishes, exterior colours and lighting features. Black styling packages could also be an option for buyers wanting a sportier look.
Higher trims may also have air suspension, rear-wheel steering and advanced driver-assistance hardware subtly worked into the exterior.
